1. Who we are
This website is run by Eyesavers Opticals [registered business name, e.g. proprietorship / LLP / Pvt Ltd, and GSTIN], Kalburgi Noolvi Avenue, New Cotton Market, Deshpande Nagar, Hubli, Karnataka [PIN], India (“Eyesavers”, “we”, “us”).
We are the “Data Fiduciary” for the personal data described here, under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to serve you:
- When you place an order through our checkout: your name, mobile number, the products and quantities in your cart, any coupon code you enter, the order total, and the date and time of the order.
- When you message or call us (on WhatsApp, by phone or by email): your name, number or email address, and whatever you choose to tell us in the conversation.
- When you use the contact form: the details you type in. The form opens WhatsApp with your message, so it reaches us only when you press send in WhatsApp.
- Technical data that any website receives: your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. It’s held briefly in server logs, and used for security and to keep the site running.
Our website does not collect payment card details, and it does not collect eye-test or other health information. Clinical records from an in-store eye examination are kept by our clinic separately and are not part of this website.
3. How we use it
- To confirm your order, check stock, arrange payment, and organise in-store pickup or shipping.
- To contact you about your order, an exchange or a question you asked.
- To apply valid coupon codes and keep accurate sales and tax records.
- To protect the website against spam and misuse.
We process this data because you ask us to (you place an order or contact us) and with your consent, which you give when you submit the checkout. We do not sell your personal data, and we don’t send you marketing messages unless you separately agree to receive them.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal data only where needed to serve you:
- WhatsApp (Meta): when you tap “Buy now” or “Chat on WhatsApp”, your order summary, name and number are sent to us through WhatsApp, under WhatsApp’s own privacy policy.
- Our website host [hosting company name], which stores the website and order records for us.
- Courier / shipping partners [names]: your name, number and delivery address, only when you choose shipping.
- Google: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and the Contact page shows an embedded Google Map. Google receives your IP address when these load.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
We keep order records for [e.g. 8 years, to meet GST and accounting record-keeping requirements], and WhatsApp conversations for as long as needed to serve you. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
6. Your browser & cookies
Your shopping cart is saved in your own browser (local storage) so it isn’t lost when you move between pages. It isn’t sent to us until you place an order, and you can clear it at any time by emptying the cart or clearing your browser data.
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. [If you later add Google Analytics or a Meta pixel, update this section and add a cookie notice]
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- ask us to correct, complete or update it;
- ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it by law (for example tax records);
- withdraw your consent at any time (this doesn’t affect anything done before you withdraw it);
- nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity;
- raise a grievance with us and, if you aren’t satisfied, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We’ll reply within [e.g. 30 days].
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your data, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access limited to authorised staff, and spam protection on our checkout. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will inform you and the authorities of a data breach as the law requires.
9. Children
Our website is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to place an order for you. We don’t knowingly collect children’s personal data through the website without a parent’s consent.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed, and significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
